Foote   Linotypist workers typing at their machines inside the composing room of the Canadian Publishers in the West Canada Publishers building in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  The employees received a salary of $4 per week. The first machine in the photo was used to type set an English paper called the Northwest Review and the Labour News; the second machine was operated by Mr. George-Henre Berube who typeset the paper La Liberte and other French manuals; the third machine was used to print the German newspaper Western Canada; and the fourth machine was used to print a Polish paper. Standing at the right is Brother Charles Sylvestre, Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate, a machinist. Between machines 2 and 3 is the foreman, Maurice Dumousseau, who was later with the Free Press. At the back to the right is Mr. George McNally, A. LaLonde, and Edmon LeMay (second from the right).
